Coolhunt #2 Granny’s Finest

Remember when you were younger and your grandmother made a scarf or sweater for you? And you had to pretend you loved it even though you hated the colors that she used and the wool itched like hell? Well, you can leave that in the past!

A group in The Netherlands has started a new project called Granny’s Finest. Fashion students come together with senior people so they can realize their designs. Both parties have benefits with this program. The young fashion students can work on their resume and of course they get a good feeling by doing something for the society. This is not only for fashion students. The program is also meant for photographers, stylists, models and makeup artists, so they can improve their skills as well.

2,6 million people who live in The Netherlands are older than 65. One million of them feels lonely. The goal of Granny’s Finest is to prevent loneliness by letting the seniors do what they like: knitting. They can do this together while young designers guide them through the process. Eventually the younger learn from the elderly and vice versa.

Granny’s finest creates sustainable, handmade products with the right fabrics so your scarf won’t itch any longer! They have an online shop as well. All the income will be used for field trips and weekly clubs.
