Lately I’m obsessed with concept stores. If you haven’t heard of it yet: A concept store is all about the product experience. These stores distinguish themselves from ‘normal’ shops by offering a broad assortment, very often products that don’t have anything to do with each other. A good example of a concept store is Make My Day. It is located in Nijmegen and I’m crazy about it!
Make My Day was created by three different persons who have their own share in this store. It all began with a message via social media, asking who would want to be co-owner of a concept store. That’s why they have a barber, cafetaria and a shop all in one. They have the cutest, weirdest and funniest products I’ve ever seen! From camera’s to posters to clothes to so much more. If you take a good look, you will find a lot of details in this store. For example this:
In their assortment they have multiple products from English and Scandinavian clothing and interior brands, this, combined with vintage items from the clothes shop Porch People makes this store have a broad assortment with variety between different styles. You’ll find items you won’t find easily in other shops, like gadgets, books, postcards and jewelry.
This concept shows a lot of color and details. I can literally spend hours and hours in this shop and still be amazed about all the alternative products and details they used in their store. I can really enjoy going to this place and I feel like this was exactly the intention of the owner while creating this. It is really about the whole experience and not only about buying something you want. Make My Day also has a Facebook page and they post frequently, so you can keep up with their latest news any time!
So why is it cool? The products they sell are for a broad target group and the atmosphere is amazing. It is really fun to just walk around and to look around, without even buying something. It is hard to explain but when you visit you’ll exactly know what I’m talking about. This store has a surprise effect because it is not placed on a regular A-location, so not everybody knows about it or knows where to find it.
